Meet Myra — a little survivor with a HUGE heart.
Myra has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure, but despite everything, she remains sweet, loving, and full of personality, even in her old age. She’s ready to find her forever home! Myra’s previous owner passed away from COVID, and she and two other dogs were discovered inside the trailer with him. When Myra was rescued, she had almost no fur, and her skin was red, irritated, and painful. She also suffered from severe ear infections and ulcers in both eyes. We spent a year trying everything we could to save her eye, but ultimately, removing it was the kindest choice because it was causing her so much pain. Myra has also required long-term treatment for her skin, including antibiotics, steroids, and antifungal medications. She has environmental allergies and can experience flare-ups, which we manage with Apoquel when needed. Many of the areas where Myra lost her hair have developed scarring that has been difficult to heal. She also recently had a large, rapidly growing lump removed from her neck. But here’s the thing about Myra: none of this has taken away her joy. Her nickname is “Piglet” because one of her favorite things in the world is rolling around happily in the grass. She has a silly, lovable personality and a zest for life that will melt your heart. Myra doesn’t need someone looking for a “perfect” dog. She needs someone who will look past her scars and medical history and see the beautiful, resilient girl underneath. She has fought so hard to get here. Now she deserves a family who will love her unconditionally, keep up with her medical needs, and give her the safe, comfortable, forever home she’s been waiting for. Myra is ready for her forever. Could that be with you?
